A new study suggests that the flu vaccine helps to weaken the immune system.

Researchers at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center found that women who received the flu vaccine had a weakened immune system.

Pregnant women were found to be particularly vulnerable to the complications of the flu vaccine.

Speaking about the study, Lisa Christian, associate professor and researcher from the Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, said: “One key factor that can affect antibody responses is repeated vaccination. Growing evidence shows that those who received a flu shot in the prior year have lower antibody responses in the current year.”

She added that women who get a flu shot year after year will likely see their initial antibody response weakened over time.

Despite the fact that the study shows participants had a lower immune response to the flu when injected with the vaccine, the study still suggested that people should continue to get the jab.
