mcdonald's iceland

It has recently been reported that after already spending one year in Iceland’s national museum, a hamburger and fries purchased from McDonald’s  still hasn’t become mouldy or rotten. The museum decided to put the last ever meal on display when the world-famous fast food chain shut down in all of Iceland’s locations in 2009. It is currently on display at the Bus Hostel in Reykjavik.

The reasons for the shutdown of all McDonald’s restaurants was due to the economic collapse in 2009, when customers failed to eat out in their restaurants and as such, forced the corporation to close its doors. The owner of the meal was none other than Hjortur Smarason. Smarason had no intentions of eating the meal; he wanted to hang onto the meal to display as a novelty history item.

Now all are able to see it via a webcam at the Bus Hostel in Reykjavik. Anyone who is interested could watch the very slow decomposition of this popular feast. Yummy!!!
