Do you remember last week when we reported the story about a suicidal man who had launched a campaign to find a stranger who saved his life?

Jonny Benjamin hit the headlines last month after he launched a campaign with the help of the charity Rethink Mental Illness, to find the stranger who intervened when he was about to jump over a bridge six years ago.

The campaign was dubbed ‘Finding Mike’. Well, as it turns out, ‘Mike’ has been found, and his name is in fact, Neil.

Neil Laybourn, 31, from Surrey, knew immediately that he was the man Jonny was looking for after his fiancée told him about the campaign because she recognised the story.

After an emotional reunion earlier last week, Neil said that he will definitely stay in touch with Mike.

He said: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw the campaign. I got in touch straight away. I was so pleased to see how well Jonny was doing, I had thought about him over the years and had always hoped he was OK.”
