North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong-un, has reportedly gone on yet another killing spree and executed a dozen members of the Unhasu Orchestra – including his ex-girlfriend singer Hyon Sung-wol – as their relatives and musicians from three other pop bands were forced to watch. Following the firing squad, the onlookers were all sent to concentration camps.

Hyon’s band were responsible for a string of patriotic hits in North Korea, including “Footsteps of Soldiers,” “I Love Pyongyang,” “She is a Discharged Soldier” and “We are Troops of the Party.” Her popularity reportedly peaked in 2005 with the song “Excellent Horse-Like Lady.”

They were accused of making pornographic videos of themselves performing sex acts and then selling the recordings.

The psychopath-in-chief used to date singer Hyon, a popular singer and performer who has known the dictator since childhood. His now-dead father, Kim Jong-il, disapproved of his son dating the singer, so the pair were forced to break off the relationship.

They then went their separate ways and married other people. Hyon subsequently married an officer in the North Korean military and reportedly had a baby, although there are suggestions that Hyon continued to see Kim after her marriage. Kim’s wife, Ri Sol-ju, was also a member of the Unhasu Orchestra before their marriage and one theory is that Sol-Ju objected to the continuing high profile of her husband’s former girlfriend, and the rumours that the pair were still seeing each other.

So in a fashion reminiscent of Henry VIII, Kim Jong-Un executed his former lover.

It has been claimed that this was because of the objections by his wife.
Toshimitsu Shigemura, a professor at Tokyo’s Waseda University and an authority on North Korean affairs, told The Daily Telegraph that: If these people had only made pornographic videos, then it is simply not believable that their punishment was execution. There is a political reason behind this. Or, as Kim’s wife once belonged to the same group, it is possible that these executions are more about Kim’s wife”.
