Russ_Tice_2009Much ado has been made in the media about the revelations unveiled by Edward Snowden in relation to the illegal eavesdropping by the NSA of US citizens.

Snowden who has been featured widely in the media for his role in exposing the US government who, in collaboration with various businesses such as Facebook and Google, conducted mass surveillance of the public – including those who were not even residents of the USA.

Now in hiding, the media has reported how Snowden is now a major target of the US security forces, who have publicly declared that they will be subjecting him to prosecution – maybe worse.

Senator Ron Paul in America, also spoke out about his fears that the US may try to use drones to try and stake Snowden out.

But while all this was going on, there was another whistleblower who did not receive as much attention for the media – and even on those interviews where he was given a platform, much of the information he gave was misrepresented.

Russ Tice worked as a National Security Agency (NSA) agent from 2002 to 2005 and prior to that had worked as a U.S. intelligence analyst for 20 years.

He revealed how the security forces had not only carried out spying operations against the public, but had also spied on top figures within America, including Obama, members of congress, Hillary Clinton, and Colin Powell, to name but a few.

He said that the purpose of such operations were not only to keep tabs on these political figures but it was also used to blackmail them into towing the line.

“The abuse is rampant and everyone is pretending that it’s never happened, and it couldn’t happen. … I know [there was abuse] because I had my hands on the papers for these sorts of things,” he said: “They went after high-ranking military officers; they went after members of congress — Senate and the House — especially on the intelligence committees and the armed services committees, lawyers, law firms, judges, State Department officials, part of the White House, multinational companies, financial firms, NGOs [and] civil rights groups.”

A source inside the NSA claimed that the spy agency has the ability to copy “every domestic communication in this country, word for word, content, every phone conversation, every email for the purposes of collecting everything in bulk and putting it in databases.”
