A student has managed to raise over £21,000 for a homeless man who offered her his change so she could get home safely at night.

Dominique Harrison-Bentzen had lost her bank card on a night out in Preston, when the man known only as Robbie gave her his last £3 so she could get a taxi home.

She then set out on a mission to find him and after speaking to locals, later discovered that he had previously offered his scarf to people that were cold and returned wallets to pedestrians without taking anything.

She then set up a donation page for the man, and the money came pouring in for people who were touched by the story.

While fundraising out in Preston, she was also given £200 by one passer by after they heard her story.

On her GoGetFunding page she wrote: “I was lucky enough to find him again and his name is Robbie, he has been homeless for 7 months through no fault of his own and needs to get back on his feet but cannot get work due to having no address. So that’s when I decided to change Robbie’s life and help him, as he has helped many others. On Tuesday 16th December I will be spending 24 hours through the day and night as a homeless person to understand the difficulties they face each day.”
