syria one

Do you remember those little magic tricks that you probably saw at school, where someone would pick a card out of the pack, and then promptly make it disappear – and then reappear – as needed?

Well, for some reason that is exactly what has come to mind when I see the propaganda machine in full swing over Syria.

So MPs have voted “no” to a Western strike on Syria. That’s a good start. But here’s the problem: much of the opposition to a strike on Syria that has been highlighted in the media, has focussed on the fact that there is not enough evidence that Assad used weapons on his own people.

The implications being of course, that if if indeed it was Assad that launched a weapons attack on his own people, then the Western forces are justified in launching a missile strike.

It is almost as if the mind-control propaganda machine that is the mainstream media, are helping to sow the seeds of a future assault against the Syrian people, by preparing their excuses in advance.

But the truth is, there are no circumstances in which such action would be justified, unless they had openly tried to strike us first.

And even in that was the case, one would have to have a gigantic leap of faith to believe that it was not yet another false flag attack – or a real attack blamed on the wrong people.

In any case, Syrian rebels have admitted that they were behind the attack on men and women in the country, and they also claimed that these weapons were obtained from Saudi Arabia, a regime that is dedicated to toppling Assad. Saudi Arabia, is of course, an ally of the US.

According to Dale Gavlak, a correspondent who writes for the Associated Press, Syrian rebels in the Damascus suburb of Ghouta  admitted to him that they were responsible for the attack  revealing that the casualties were the result of an accident caused by rebels mishandling chemical weapons.

Gavlak, said that one rebel told him: “We were very curious about these arms. And unfortunately, some of the fighters handled the weapons improperly and set off the explosions.”

Another female fighter named ‘K’, told Gavlak, “They didn’t tell us what these arms were or how to use them. We didn’t know they were chemical weapons. We never imagined they were chemical weapons.”

Gavlak wrote: “More than a dozen rebels interviewed reported that their salaries came from the Saudi government”

Add that to the fact that Carla del Ponte, a member of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, told Swiss TV there were “strong, concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof,” that rebels seeking to oust Syrian strongman Bashar al-Assad had used the nerve agent.

But yet the fact remains. No matter who was responsible for the attack – the West should not interfere. Why? Because the number of Syrian deaths will go up exponentially – along with those in the US forces.

And that should be the real focus of the debate – rather than giving the Western imperialist forces a possible future justification for invading Syria if it did turn out to be Assad’s forces at work.
