German police took off their helmets and marched in solidarity with anti-austerity protestors

On May 19th, thousands of protesters marched against austerity and ‘crony capitalism’.

Protesters peacefully filled the city center of continental Europe’s biggest financial hub in their protest against the dominance of banks and what they perceive to be untamed crony capitalism.

However, in a rare show of solidarity, German police removed their helmets and marched in support alongside the protesters.

The protest group calling itself Blockupy has called for blocking the access to the European Central Bank, which is located in Frankfurt’s business district.

A similar anti-austerity march organised by the People’s Assembly is set to take place in London on June 20th.

Thousands of people from all over the UK are expected to attend.
