sychedelic therapy could potentially reset the brain and cure depression

Psychedelic therapy could potentially reset the brain and cure depression, it has been reported.

Dr Carol Routledge, the chief scientific officer of Small Pharma is conducting drug trials with the powerful hallucinogenic DMT, which he believes may offer longer-term relief from symptoms.

The team is consulting Imperial College London, which runs the pioneering Centre for Psychedelic Research.

Carol said: “We believe the impact will be almost immediate, and longer-lasting than conventional antidepressants.”

DMT is colloquially known as the ‘spirit molecule’ due to its ability to alter human consciousness and produce spiritual and sometimes profound experiences.

Researchers believe the drug might help loosen the brain’s fixed pathways, which can then be “reset” with talking therapy afterwards.
