Make no mistake about it, this is what Bilderberg attendees think of the ordinary man and woman on the street

Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as internationalists and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure – one world, if you will. If that is the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.” – David Rockefeller, ‘Memoirs’.

Several state officials, monarchs and politicians from across Britain and indeed the world, gathered in Copenhagen, Denmark for the annual Bilderberg meeting.

George Osborne, representatives of HSBC, Justine Greening, secretary of state for International Development, John Kerr, deputy chairman of Scottish Power, Edward Balls, shadow chancellor of the Exchequer, Peter Mandelson, chairman of Global Counsel LLP and John Micklethwait, editor-in-chief of the Economist were just some of the names that were on this year’s meeting lists.

Other participants include Martin Wolf, chief economics commentator at the Financial Times and Robert Dudley, chief executive of BP went to this years Bilderberg meetings, along with the heads of Nato, the IMF, BP, Shell, Google and MI6.

Interestingly, most of the participants at this year’s event are almost exclusively from Western Europe and North America.

There were no participants from Africa, and just a few from China, and Eastern Europe.

Security for the meeting was provided by the much-maligned NSA.

Subjects included in the meeting are:

  • Does privacy exist?
  • Nuclear diplomacy and the deal with Iran currently in the making
  • Gas deal between Russia and China
  • Rise of nationalist moods in Europe
  • EU internet privacy regulations
  • Cyber warfare and its potential effect on internet freedoms from Ukraine to Syria, Barack Obama’s foreign policy
  • Climate change
  • The new architecture of the Middle East
  • Ukraine
  • The future of democracy and the middle class trap

During the meeting, participants discussed how much privacy should be afforded the public, while having their privacy paid for (at least in part) by the public.

In other words, heads of state who attended the meeting took it upon themselves to decide how much privacy “privileges” they will dish out to the rest of us.

And those are just the subjects that were openly discussed. It will be very interesting to observe the policies that are introduced and pushed from now on, and whether similar legislation appears in other countries which had leaders who attended this year’s meeting.
