Miles Bradbury has been jailed for a string of sex offences against young, dying children

A high profile paedophile doctor has now been selected to become a police advisor, it has been revealed.

Miles Bradbury who is currently serving a 22 year sentence for abusing 18 sick and dying children was visited by police, who have enlisted his help to catch child abusers.

This is despite the fact that Bradbury is at the centre of an NHS inquiry into how he was able to abuse his victims for so long.

The development has led some of the victims’ families to fear that the inquiry could become another whitewash.

Documents connected to the inquiry also state there is no guarantee the report will be made public.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said that contacting Bradbury was “an attempt to gain any further information from Bradbury that might help us prevent this happening again”.

In September, Bradbury pleaded guilty to 25 offences, although it is thought there may be further victims.

Renu Daly, of Neil Hudgell Solicitors, a law firm representing victims, called for greater transparency into the inquiry.

She said: “I think that the report should be made public in line with the NHS duty of candour.
“It is unthinkable that the families should be asked to contribute to an investigative process about the abuse of their own children and not be shown the report.”

She added: “As far as the terms of reference go it doesn’t seem to go far enough to establish the extent of the abuse.

“It was said that there was potentially 800 patients of Bradbury. Now the document itself doesn’t state how they intend to clarify the extent of the abuse. I think the most important thing here is that some families might not even know that their children have been abused and it’s imperative to ascertain that.”

Bradbury’s abuse at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridgeshire took place between 2009 and 2013. He also worked at Birmingham Children’s Hospital as a consultant between 2007 and 2008 and as a registrar for periods of time between 2004 and 2007.
